Malcolm Curtice

I am a Gorseinon man, born and bred in the town and I have been married to Jan,
a fellow Councillor, for 42 years and we have 2 children and 4 grandchildren.

I was educated at Tre Uchaf Secondary Modern School and, on leaving school, I worked as a carpenter's mate at the Bryngwyn Steelworks in Gorseinon. At 16 years of age I started a five year apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery with Llwchwr Urban Council before being called up to do my National Service in the RAF.

On finishing my National Service, I worked for a short time back at the Bryngwyn Works before going on to work at Thyssen in their Joinery Shop. I finished my career as a Projects Officer working on many building projects, with Community Industry, which was based in Swansea; there I was in charge of over 300 young people.

I spent 23 years on the Abbeyfield Committee Swansea as a volunteer looking after the elderly, and I was involved in the Scout movement for 40 years. I have been a Town Councillor for the past 10 years, served as Mayor in 2004 and I am dedicated to helping the people of our town.
